Make your way to London Heathrow for the start of your APT Essential Vietnam & Cambodia to catch your overnight flight to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).
Your journey begins today amid the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh City, commonly known as Saigon. Upon arrival in the Vietnamese city, be met at the airport, and transferred your hotel.

Day 3 - Cu Chi Tunnels, Ho Chi Minh City
This morning take a step back in time and revisit the military history of the area. Visit the Cu Chi Tunnels, built by Vietnamese resistance fighters during the Vietnam War. Part of a larger network, the tunnels were used by Viet Cong guerrillas as hiding spots during combat. They also served as communication and supply routes, hospitals, weapons caches and living quarters for numerous guerrilla fighters.
Day 4 - Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Embark Ship
After breakfast, drive to My Tho Port to board your unique river ship. Built to provide a gratifying onboard experience, enjoy the sophisticated design and premium facilities of the RV Apsara.

Day 5 - Cai Be, Sa Dec
Cruise to the town of Cai Be. Go ashore to see Cai Be’s French Gothic Cathedral and visit a local rice paper manufacturer to learn how rice paper is made.
Continue on to Sa Dec for a guided tour. Here, you’ll see the home of Huynh Thuy Le, once the lover of French writer Marguerite Duras, and visit a Cao Dai Temple.
Day 6 - Tan Chau, Border Crossing
Transfer to a small boat for a journey along the tiny tributaries that snake around Tan Chau, step ashore for a rickshaw tour and visit a local island.
Spend the remainder of the day in comfort on board as your ship cruises to the Cambodian border.
Day 7 - Phnom Penh
Today, join an excursion to the infamous Killing Fields and the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, on the site of the Khmer Rouge’s notorious Security Prison 21.
Later in Phnom Penh, a tour takes you to visit the extravagant Royal Palace.
Day 8 - Oudong, Koh Chen
INSIDER EXPERIENCE
Be treated to a memorable Buddhist blessing ceremony in Oudong.
This morning, an excursion takes you to Oudong, Cambodia’s former royal capital. While here, enjoy an Insider Experience. En route back to Phnom Penh, explore Koh Chen, a village specialising in the manufacture of copperware.
Here you’ll visit some small family workshops and have the opportunity to buy some souvenirs.
Day 9 - Oknha Tey
Disembark this morning for a tour of Oknha Tey, or ‘Silk Island’, located on the lush banks of the Mekong River.
Tour the village and see the traditional silk weaving that has been preserved for centuries. This afternoon, set sail for Angkor Ban.
Day 10 - Angkor Ban, Koh Pen
INSIDER EXPERIENCE
Embark on a tuk tuk ride around the island of Koh Pen.
Disembark this morning for a walking tour of Angkor Ban, one of the few traditional villages left in Cambodia.
Later cruise to Kampong Cham before an Insider Experience.
Day 11 - Disembark Ship At Kampong Cham, Siem Reap, Angkor

In Siem Reap, meet with underprivileged children at Opportunities of Development thru Art (ODA), and get a glimpse into the organisation that supports them by providing a creative, educative and loving environment.

This morning, disembark in Kampong Cham and transfer to Siem Reap. Later, continue to explore Ta Prohm and its verdant, intertwined trees.

Enjoy a free morning to explore. Later, discover the remains of Angkor Archaeological Park, a long-standing tribute to the ancient Khmer Empire.
Visit the 12th-century temple Bayon. Finish your day with sunset at Angkor Wat.
Day 5 - Siem Reap, Kampong Cham, Embark Ship
INSIDER EXPERIENCE
Hop on a tuk tuk and explore the agricultural island of Koh Pen. Travel along the shaded lanes and past wooden stilted houses, tucked amongst palm and sandalwood trees.
Transfer to Kampong Cham to board the RV Apsara. Later, delight in an Insider Experience.
Day 6 - Angkor Ban, Oknha Tey
Enjoy an immersive tour of Angkor Ban on a walking tour. Return to your ship and continue sailing towards Oknha Tey.
Disembark and board a local tuk tuk for a village tour.
Leave your local transport and continue on foot for a more in-depth exploration of the village.
Day 7 - Oknha Tey, Phnom Penh
INSIDER EXPERIENCE
Visit a Buddhist monastery where you will have the opportunity to partake in a Buddhist blessing ceremony.
Cruise to Phnom Penh then travel by coach to Oudong, the former capital of Cambodia. After an Insider Experience here, continue to Koh Chen and explore the open-air copperware workshops.
This afternoon is free to explore.
Day 8 - Phnom Penh
Explore the Killing Fields and the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, which recalls one of the darkest moments of the 20th century.
Later, take a tour to visit the Royal Palace. See the Silver Pagoda located within the Royal Palace complex and admire the Emerald Buddha carved from Baccarat crystal.
After dinner, perhaps step out for an evening walk.
Day 9 - Border Crossing, Tan Chau
Spend today on board as your ship cruises to the Vietnamese border. This afternoon, you might like to attend a fruit-carving demonstration by the ship’s chef while border formalities are carried out and you cross into Vietnam.
Tonight, watch a documentary film about Pol Pot as your ship cruises towards the small Vietnamese town of Tan Chau.
Day 10 - Tan Chau, Sa Dec
After breakfast, transfer to a small boat and travel along the Mekong’s tiny tributaries, observing the stilt house villages. Go ashore for a tour of Tan Chau by rickshaw.
Known as one of the largest silk-weaving centres of Vietnam, visit the fascinating local artisan workshops to learn more about the history of the craft.
Day 11 - Sa Dec, Cai Be
Take a boat ride to the charming colonial town of Sa Dec for a tour. Visit the former home of Huynh Thuy Le. Le’s one-time lover, French writer Marguerite Duras penned her best-selling novel, The Lover, about their affair. After lunch, step aboard a local boat and journey to Cai Be to see the French Gothic cathedral.
Go ashore to visit a local rice paper manufacturer to learn how rice paper is made. After, visit a coconut candy factory to see how the local sweet is created.
Enjoy a final dinner on board your ship.
Day 12 - Disembark Cruise, Cu Chi Tunnels, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)
