Day 1: Amsterdam

The first day sees you arrive in Amsterdam by air from the UK and transfer to the Vienna I to begin your voyage

Day 2: Kinderdijk

Awake this morning at Kinderdijk with the chance to see a selection of iconic windmills the country is famous for. The afternoon and evening are the perfect times to relax on board as Vienna I makes her way towards Germany.

Day 3: Cologne

Home to the country's most visited landmark - Cologne Cathedral - no trip to Germany would be complete without seeing its imposing spires reaching upwards from the banks of the Rhine. The majestic gothic masterpiece, the largest cathedral of its kind in the world, took over half a century to complete. Its imposing façade and expertly crafted stonework will make it an unforgettable highlight of your included half day tour.

Day 4: Rüdesheim

Today is spent navigating the impressive natural beauty of the Rhine Gorge, a 65 km section of the river that has been recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its cultural and geological charms. Enjoy the included half day excursion taking in the famous cobblestone street of Drosselgasse. Sitting in the heart of Rüdesheim and comprised mainly of restaurants and wine taverns, you can sit back and enjoy a drink before returning to the ship to continue along the striking Rhine.

Day 5: Miltenberg and Wertheim

A relaxing start to the day gives you plenty of time to enjoy the on board facilities before a short stop in Miltenberg on the River Main which allows those guests taking the optional tour to Wertheim Village, a quaint Germanic settlement in the heart of the wine country, to disembark. Later, Vienna I calls briefly at Wertheim to embark the tour guests before casting off bound for Würzburg.

Day 6: Würzburg

Stepping ashore in Würzburg gives you to the opportunity to take a trip back in time with plenty of opportunity to discover a city that dates back to the middle-ages. Why not choose to explore Würzburg's Residential Palace, a masterpiece of baroque design with stunning views looking out over the city, or perhaps take the Romantic Road to see the delightful walled town of Rothenburg.

Day 7: Bamberg

Arrive today in Bamberg, a perfectly preserved historic town nestled amongst rivers and forests and justifiably listed as a World Heritage Site. Stroll amongst the charming houses lining the cobbled streets in one of the few German cities to survive the Allied bombing campaigns. Why not visit a beer haus to enjoy a local draught with a traditional German sausage or if you have a slightly sweeter tooth, you could always select a cake or pastry in a Bavarian café.

Day 8: Nuremberg

Playing a pivotal role in German history throughout the ages, naturally Nuremberg has plenty of things to see. Home to spectacular gothic architecture as well as being the site of the infamous Second World War trials, Nuremburg has a rich and colourful history with a fascinating old town for you to discover.

Day 9: Regensburg

At the northern most point of the Danube lies Regensburg, one of Germany's best-preserved medieval cities. Find out more about this picture postcard city, which has been inhabited since Roman times, with an optional guided tour.

Day 10: Passau

Known as 'The Three Rivers City', Passau is located where the Danube, Inn and Ilz rivers meet. This picturesque city offers some wonderful architecture, delightful squares and riverside promenades to discover. This is also your gateway to Salzburg in Austria, home of Mozart and setting for The Sound Of Music.

Day 11: Melk, Dürnstein and Vienna

At Melk, stretch your legs with an optional visit to the colossal baroque Benedictine Monastery, one of the most famous monastic sites in the world. Spend the morning admiring the abbey after which you can choose to sample the local wines in Durnstein before rejoining the ship to sail for Vienna. Here you may choose to enjoy a delightful evening at a Huerigen or wine tavern.

Day 12: Vienna

Spend a full day in Austria's capital, a cultural hub of Europe and birthplace of classical music. There is plenty to see and do, from the jaw-dropping Schönbrunn Palace with its impeccable grounds, to the striking monuments and baroque mansions that have inspired creative minds for centuries. A half day city tour is included here.

Day 13: Bratislava

Cruise into the Slovak capital and experience the melting pot of cultures and influences that have helped shape Bratislava as you discover the old town. A full day and overnight stay on board will give you plenty of time to appreciate the beauty, culture and charm of Budapest, Hungary's fascinating capital. An overnight stay in Hungary's beautiful capital will give you time to take advantage of the included siteseeing tour. Divided by the Danube and linked by imposing bridges, Buda and Pest are packed with history and culture. See Fishermen's Bastion, The Parliament, Heroes Square and Buda Castle.

Another day and another capital city, this time it's Austria's capital, Vienna. Day 5: Dürnstein & Melk

Dürnstein is famous for its castle where Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned. Here you have the chance to sample some of the regional wines before sailing along the pretty Wachau Valley to Melk. Soak up the passing scenery before reaching Passau where the Danube, Inn and Ilz rivers meet and known as The Three Rivers City. Spend a few happy hours wandering, enjoying the historic market square or visiting the Kilian Chapel with fantastic photo opportunities. Rejoin the ship at Miltenberg, where a brief embarkation call is made.

Day 12: Rüdesheim, the Rhine Gorge & Koblenz

Arrive in Rudesheim, an included excursion to the famous street of Drosselgasse is a wonderful experience. Situated in the heart of Rudesheim and comprised mainly of restaurants and taverns, enjoy a drink before returning to the ship to continue along the beautiful Rhine Gorge. This 65 km section of the river has been recognised as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its cultural and geological charms. From the sun deck, you'll see dramatic soaring outcrops and ruined castles before reaching Koblenz where your evening may be spent exploring its impressive squares and historic buildings.

Home to the country's most visited landmark, a visit to Cologne isn't complete without marvelling at the spectacular Cologne Cathedral. Join the included tour and see the two imposing gothic spires that give the cathedral the largest façade of any church in the world. Discover some of Cologne's other charms before waving goodbye to Germany and journeying to the Netherlands.

Day 14: Kinderdijk & Amsterdam

Kinderdijk brings with it a fantastic photo opportunity with the chance to see a selection of iconic windmills the country is famous for. Finally, an overnight stay on board in Amsterdam gives you the chance to spend the evening ashore where the cobbled streets and famous canals will be a fantastic way to conclude this memorable cruise.

MS Vienna I



Overview

Built in 2006, Vienna I is a contemporary premium plus river cruise ship offering a warm and friendly environment with excellent service from a very attentive crew. Superbly decorated throughout, her panoramic windows offer passing views wherever you may be on the ship. There are 80 comfortable air conditioned cabins and two spacious suites accommodating up to 164 guests. All cabins boast en suite facilities, double or twin beds and ample storage space. 85% of the cabins have French balconies so the passing scenery can be absorbed from the comfort of your room.

Vienna I has four passenger decks. Relax in the comfortable Lounge Bar with expansive picture windows as you take in the wonderful scenery and get to meet your fellow guests. Enjoy the convenience of the library, fitness area, hair salon and shop. Stairs lead up to the Sun Deck where you may choose to sit and unwind in the fresh air and wonder at the breathtaking 360° views of the ever changing landscape.

After dinner, why not step ashore for adrink in a cosy bar. Alternatively, relax and enjoy the on board entertainment including local folkloric at selected ports.
