Three Rivers Cruise

This cruise includes a trip along the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers, which are undoubtedly Europe’s most important and beautiful rivers. Start your cruise across Europe from Amsterdam on the North Sea along the fascinating Dutch waterways, down to Nuremberg, or in the opposite direction, from Nuremberg to Amsterdam. You will visit the fascinating cities of Cologne, Würzburg and Bamberg and cruise the most important connection between the Danube and the Main: the Rhine-Main-Danube canal. Finally, you will pass the legendary Lorelei Rock, an inspiration for many writers and poets.

Travel Canals of Amsterdam
Day 1 - Amsterdam

The historic Dutch capital city of Amsterdam is a wonderful starting point for your 15 day European cruise across Europe. After embarkation, enjoy an evening Welcome Cocktail, followed by a carefully prepared Welcome Dinner. The vessel overnights in Amsterdam.

Day 2 - Amsterdam & Utrecht

In the morning, you can take part in the optional “Amsterdam and Northern Holland” combined excursion. After a city tour including a tour of the grachten, the second part of the outing in the comfortable tour bus will take you, amongst other places, to the charming fishing village of Volendam and to a typical cheese farm in the country. Your AMADEUS ship, which will have arrived in Utrecht in the meantime, will welcome you on board again at midday and will continue south shortly thereafter. Enjoy the panorama of the Lower Rhine region from the Sun Deck or the Lounge.

Day 3 - Cologne

After breakfast, view our arrival into the beautiful city of Cologne. Every year visitors from all over the world are drawn to the historical city and its 2000-year history. Explore the historic Old Town and visit the famous twin-spired Cologne Cathedral, along with the twelve Romanesque Cathedrals that span the city. There are many medieval houses, bridges, and gates that will delight the historian in you, while the more modern skyscrapers that tower overhead are sure to impress. To sample a bit of local flora and fauna, the National Park lies a short ride from the city. After an exciting day, return to the vessel spend the evening cruising the Danube.

Day 3 - Cologne

Day 4 - Oberwesel

Early this morning, join your fellow travellers on deck for the famous passage of the Loreley. This narrow passage on the Rhine has inspired a modern day folklore story of the siren of the river. After breakfast the vessel docks in Oberwesel, the ‘City of Towers’. Enjoy a walk around the wall that still surrounds much of the city. There are a large number of churches, as well as many historic houses that showcase the architecture of the 17th and 18th centuries. Spend the afternoon relaxing on deck, with the passing of the beautiful Rhineland countryside, as the vessel continues its journey.

Day 4 - Oberwesel

Day 5 - Miltenberg & Wertheim

Today, choose to remain onboard for a relaxing day or join our optional excursion in the afternoon to Miltenberg and Wertheim, two towns famous for their architecture and museums. Both are unique in their own way and are reflective of the storied history of the area. In Wertheim explore the medieval streets with its half-timbered houses and glass museum. In Miltenberg walk through the streets lined with half timbered houses and historic market square. This evening, enjoy another memorable meal as the ship plies the waters toward our next stop.

Day 6 - Wurzburg

Welcome to the Bavarian city of Würzburg, located in the heart of the Franconian wine region! Experience the many beautiful sights of the town such as the marketplace, the Maria Chapel and the old main bridge, the Marienberg Fortress and the surrounding vineyards. As the central hub for wineries in this part of Germany, Würzburg is the perfect place to visit some of the local wineries for tastings. Relax onboard this afternoon and enjoy a sumptuous dinner.

Day 7 - Bamberg

The morning is spent cruising the beautiful Main. After lunch arrive in the UNESCO-protected Imperial city of Bamberg and see the New Residence, the unique Town Hall built on a bridge, and the Imperial Cathedral with its four towers. Overlooking the city are seven churches, each atop a hill, surrounding the town. This evening, we transit the Main-Danube canal highlighted with a talk onboard about this important waterway.

Day 1 - Nuremberg

After embarking in the second largest town in Bavaria at midday, you have time to become familiar with your AMADEUS ship. Your cruise ship weighs anchor in the early evening and cruises along the Main-Danube Canal, putting your first river kilometers behind you. After the Welcome Cocktail in the Panorama Bar, the Welcome Dinner will be the perfect introduction to this unforgettable trip.

Day 2 - Bamberg

The Imperial city of Bamberg is a perfect place to begin your exploration. This medieval town is a UNESCCO World Cultural Heritage site. This medieval town retains its medieval layout of three settlement areas, and Baroque facades. As you take in the seven hills of Bamberg, each topped with a stunning church, enjoy a beer from one of the many local breweries. Relax onboard this afternoon while cruising the Main River. This evening enjoy a talk about the creation and importance of the Rhine-Main-Danube canal.

Day 3 - Wurzburg

Today, visit Würzburg, a city in Bavaria known for lavish baroque and rococo architecture, located in the center of the Franconian wine country. Experience the many beautiful sights of the town such as the marketplace, the Maria Chapel and the old main bridge, the Marienberg Fortress and the surrounding vineyards. As the central hub for wineries in this part of Germany, Würzburg is the perfect place to visit some of the local wineries for tastings. From Würzburg, you can venture to nearby Rothenburg ob der Tauber, one of the most perfectly preserved medieval towns in Europe. Its towers, city gates, walls, and half-timbered gables have remained unchanged since the Thirty Years’ War. Return to the ship and continue down the river Main.

Day 4 - Wertheim & Miltenberg

Two historic cities on the river Main are on the agenda for today or enjoy a day of cruising. In Wertheim, explore the medieval streets with its half-timbered houses and glass museum, all watched over by the two-clock tower on the hill. Continue to Miltenberg, a city flanked by the river Main and an incredible forested hillside. In this unique town, see one of the oldest inns in Germany, the Hotel “Zum Reisen” and the Miltenburg Castle. This is another wonderful opportunity to sample some of the region’s red wines. After a relaxing afternoon cruising, join your fellow travellers for a beautifully prepared dinner.

Day 5 - Oberwesel

Today we visit the “Town of Towers,” so named because of the 16 towers still standing along the original city wall surrounding the town. Oberwesel is home to two Gothic churches located on opposite ends of town – both worth a visit. In the shadow of the Schönburg Castle, enjoy a glass of the city’s famous Riesling wine as you take in the beautiful views. Back onboard this afternoon, cruise through the scenic passage of the Loreley.

Day 6 - Cologne

Awake in Cologne, the fourth-largest city in Germany, with its skyline marked by the twin spires of the Cologne Cathedral among modern buildings. New blends with the old in this metropolis. After a morning in the city, you may want to visit nearby Siebengebirge National Park and Drachenfels rock. Germany’s first nature reserve, with the world-renowned Hotel Petersberg, is a great way to spend the afternoon. Tonight is a special night on board, the Captain’s Gala Dinner.

Spend the morning cruising the waterways of the Netherlands or take the opportunity to disembark in Utrecht and explore the countryside which includes a visit to a local factory to learn about Holland’s famous export – cheese. Rejoin the vessel in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands. With a canal system as intricate and unique as Venice, this city is known for its 17th century architecture and many museums. Before returning to the ship this evening, be sure to catch a glimpse of the bridge lights reflecting off the canal water.

The Amadeus Queen, the 15th river cruise ship of the Austrian ship operator, will tour the Danube, Rhine and Main rivers as well as Dutch and Belgian waterways from spring 2018. Similar to its prominent predecessors, this ship will also continue the company’s orientation to high quality river cruises in Europe.

This new vessel follows the award-winning model of the Amadeus Silver ships but offers even further innovative developments. The popular concept of spaciousness has been maintained. This includes not only generous public areas but also spacious cabins: 12 large suites impress with an outdoor balcony and a cozy reading corner whilst the 69 standard cabins mainly have panoramic window fronts which can be automatically lowered and luxurious bathrooms. A new on-board highlight is the indoor pool, the roof of which can be opened in fine weather. In the evenings, this area may also be used for informative talks, functions and cinema showings. Amadeus operate bilingual cruises (English/German), meaning that all announcements, menus and daily programme, etc. will be provided in both languages.
