This 9 day cruise combines the majesty of two great European rivers – the Rhine and the Danube. Explore the Upper Middle Rhine Valley with its numerous castles, and experience the tranquil Main meanders.

Travel the man-made Main-Danube canal – a stunning technological marvel – as you transit onto the beautiful Danube.

Discover the half-timbered buildings of Miltenberg and Wertheim, along with the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Würzburg, Bamberg and Regensburg.

Day 1 - Passau

This afternoon, embark the vessel and get settled into your cabin. This evening, enjoy a Welcome Cocktail, followed by a specially prepared Welcome Dinner. Departure 6pm

Day 2 - Regensburg

In the morning, your AMADEUS cruise ship arrives in Regensburg, one of Germany’s best preserved medieval towns. During the morning walking tour you can admire this UNESCO world heritage site, which boasts architecture from many different centuries, reflecting its varied history. The stone bridge, built in 1135-1146, the Church of St. James and the patrician houses are a few of the highlights of this beautiful city. Perhaps sample a Regensburg bratwurst or admire the famous black forest cuckoo clocks as you explore.

In the afternoon, you can choose to join the excursion to the brewery at the Thurn and Taxis Castle, which includes a beer tasting.

Once you have returned to your ship, enjoy a special Bavarian evening on board

Day 2 - Regensburg

Day 3 - Nuremberg

After lunch, enjoy your afternoon in Nuremberg, either by yourself or as part of the guided city tour.

Consider a visit to the romantic old town of Nuremberg, which was lovingly restored after the destruction incurred during World War II.

Pass by the Palace of Justice, the venue of the Nuremberg trials, and walk through the narrow medieval alleyways starting at the foot of the castle.

You can also enjoy a stroll through the farmers’ market and try some local delicacies.

Day 4 - Bamberg

During breakfast, your AMADEUS vessel arrives in the beautiful imperial town of Bamberg.

This medieval town is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site and has retained its medieval layout, along with its historic buildings and Baroque facades. You can explore on your own or join our informative walking tour in order to learn more about this beautiful town.

As you admire the seven hills of Bamberg, each topped with a stunning church, enjoy a beer from one of the many local breweries.

After rejoining your vessel, listen to a talk about the creation and importance of the Main-Danube Canal.

Day 4 - Bamberg

Day 5 - Ochsenfurt & Würzburg

In the morning, you will arrive in the town of Ochsenfurt, which boasts many charming half-timbered houses and well-preserved medieval town fortifications.

You can take part in the morning excursion to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. A comfortable bus will take you to this well-preserved medieval town, whose towers, city gates, walls, and half-timbered gables have remained unchanged since the Thirty Years’ War. You can also visit the popular Christmas museum and indulge in year-round Christmas shopping. At lunchtime, you will arrive in Würzburg, a Bavarian town known for its lavish Baroque and Rococo architecture, located in the center of the Franconian wine district.

Experience the many beautiful sights of the town such as the marketplace, the Maria Chapel, the old Main Bridge, the Marienberg Fortress, and the surrounding vineyards.

Join the afternoon walking tour of Würzburg, which includes wine tasting, and experience all the highlights this town has to offer.

Day 5 - Ochsenfurt & Würzburg

Day 6 - Wertheim & Miltenberg

In the morning, you can choose to join the excursion to Wertheim and Miltenberg, two towns picturesquely surrounded by forests and famous for their architecture and museums. Both are unique in their own way and reflect the history of the area.

Begin with a walking tour in Wertheim and explore its medieval streets and unique glass museum. In Miltenberg, see the timber-framed houses dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries.

Rejoin your vessel at lunchtime and spend the afternoon relaxing on board.

Day 6 - Wertheim & Miltenberg

Day 7 - Oberwesel & Koblenz

After breakfast, your AMADEUS vessel docks in Oberwesel, the ”City of Towers”. Enjoy a stroll around the wall that still surrounds much of the city, or take a walk up to the castle, from which you can enjoy spectacular views of your surroundings.

In the afternoon, relax on deck as we cruise along the most beautiful section of the river — the legendary Upper Middle Rhine Valley, where you can see the statue of the mythical Lorelei.

In the late afternoon, you can take part in the walking tour of Koblenz, a town ideally situated at the confluence of the Rhine and the Moselle rivers. The Romans, the Franks, the Holy Roman Empire, the French, and the Germans all left their mark on this town over the course of its 2000-year history.

In the evening, enjoy culinary delights at the festive Captain’s Gala Dinner.

Day 7 - Oberwesel & Koblenz

Day 8 - Koblenz & Cochem

Your vessel leaves Koblenz early in the morning and continues onwards to the old town of Cochem, located on the banks of the Moselle River.

The scenery in the Moselle Valley has been dominated by vineyards for millennia, with the first vineyards being established there by the Romans in the 2nd century. Cochem itself has narrow streets, winding alleyways, quaint churches, medieval town gates and walls, as well as the stunning Reichsburg castle.

Discover the beauty of the town on your own or take part in the guided afternoon walking tour with wine tasting.

Your ship arrives in Trier this morning at 11 am

Amadeus Brilliant in Wachau Valley

The AMADEUS Brilliant is a 110-meter cruise ship built in 2011 and offers you premium travel comfort. Generous suites and cabins are located across three decks, offering accommodation for up to 150 passengers. The cabins are, for the most part, equipped with French balconies, which offer a fantastic view over the beautiful passing riverscapes.

Your culinary wishes will be attended to by our on-board Panorama-Restaurant, as well as by the Panorama-Bar, located above it, where you can sit back and relax in the lounge. All the on-board amenities are up to the customary high AMADEUS standard, and you can enjoy lounging on the spacious Sun Deck with its Lido Bar, or you can unwind with a good book in the quiet and comfortable AMADEUS Club. Regardless of what you choose to do, you will feel at home on board with us! Amadeus operate bilingual cruises (English/German), meaning that all announcements, menus and daily programme, etc. will be provided in both languages.
