The Seine winds its way through Normandy’s bucolic farmlands and meadows onto Paris where all things Parisian orbit around the Seine, the river gets its start in Burgundy’s Côte d’Or region well southeast of the cultural capital. From Paris, it winds its way, snake-like, through some of France’s most serene and beautiful countryside, past Giverny where Claude Monet’s famed gardens gave him his masterpriece inspiration and onto the Norman capital of Rouen before flowing into the English Channel.

Rouen
The medieval city of Rouen, preeminent capital of Normandy. Walk through the center of Old Town, where you see the spectacular Gothic Notre Dame Cathedral, often painted by Claude Monet, and the famous Gros Horloge, a 16th-century astronomical clock.

A dazzling city and marvel at its most remarkable sights, including the iconic Eiffel Tower, take in the École Militaire, Orsay Museum and Latin Quarter, and magnificent Notre Dame Cathedral, Louvre and Opera House.
