Fly from the UK to Budapest and be transferred to your river ship. After dinner on board, set off on a twilight cruise through the city and be enchanted by the lights of the remarkable Hungarian capital.
Day 2 - Bratislava
Admire Bratislava on a guided tour.
Later, attend a traditional folklore show in the Old Town. Perhaps learn a few Slovak dance moves, before sampling some delicious local specialties.
Day 3 - Vienna
Arrive in Vienna and take in a number of the city’s most important landmarks as you enjoy a guided orientation tour.
After dinner, head to the princely family of Liechtenstein’s City Palace in the heart of Vienna.
Attend an exclusive Cocktail Reception and a private concert featuring members of the Mozart Boys’ Choir, as well as masterpieces by Mozart and Strauss.
Day 4 - Budapest
Enjoy a relaxing morning sailing to Budapest.
Enjoy a welcome reception at Budapest’s Royal Waiting Room, then board the Grand Empress steam train. Gödöllő Palace, a favourite residence of Elisabeth of Bavaria, is your destination.
You’ll be shown through this monument of Hungarian aristocracy and architecture.
Later, be treated like royalty with dinner served on board your train. Operates on all departures between May and September.
Day 5 - Mohács, Pécs
Enjoy your selected sightseeing tour in Mohács today.
FREEDOM OF CHOICE- Sightseeing
History buffs can venture to the ancient city of Pécs. Or perhaps travel to Hungary’s renowned wine region in Villány for a tasting at a local winery.
Maybe get active on a guided bike ride through the Danube Floodplain to the village of Kölked. Here, visit its museum dedicated to the white storks which nest and feed in the area.
Day 6 - Belgrade
FREEDOM OF CHOIC – Sightseeing
Perhaps see the Belgrade Fortress and the Serbian Orthodox Temple of St Sava. If you’re feeling more physical, embark on a kayak tour along the Danube.
Or gourmet lovers can partake in a cooking class.
Day 7 - Iron Gates
Cruise through one of Europe’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders, the Iron Gates.
Here, the Danube narrows as it winds through a series of magnificent gorges between Serbia and Romania.
Day 8 - Giurgiu, Disembark Ship, Depart Bucharest
After a final breakfast on board, it is time to bid farewell as you disembark your luxurious river ship for the last time.
You will be transferred to Bucharest airport for your return flight to the UK.<
