From here, cruise to Lyon, where you can take a cycling tour of the city’s charming Botanical Gardens, or go shopping with a chef, who will introduce the city’s fabled culinary heritage.
Finally, cruise through the ‘Golden Stone’ region of Beaujolais to Macon and Chalon-sur-Saône, where you’re invited to raise a glass of fine French wine and toast the end of this unforgettable journey.
Prices are per person, based on two people sharing a twin cabin with a limited number of single cabins available on all decks, at the relevant supplement.
The price includes full board from dinner on your day of arrival until breakfast on your final day; if you choose to travel with us on any of the full day excursions by coach, a packed lunch will be provided. Day 2 - Day 2 - Tarascon & Avignon
Visit the Provencal town of Tarascon, a stone built commune situated at the extreme west of the Bouches-du-Rhone. explore the medieval character and impressive castle.
Visit Les Baux, and drop into a local olive farm, or explore Saint-Rémy and the Saint-Paul de Mausole Monastery. Alternatively, visit the wondrous Arles Arena on your tour of this once thriving Roman city.
Day 3- Avignon
The city of Avignon is filled with history and architectural splendour. the region itself is surrounded by Medieval stone ramparts, and contains the show stopping Palais-des-Papes and the remains of the Saint Benezet bridge.
Shop with a chef at the local market before cooking up a storm in Scenic Culinaire, or explore Avignon’s architectural wonder, the Pope’s Palace. Alternatively, take an excursion to Uzès and Pont du Gard, the impressive ancient Roman aqueduct.
After the doors close to the general public at Avignon’s prestigious Pope’s Palace, you’ll be invited in for an exclusive concert where virtuoso musicians perform Mozart, Bach and Vivaldi within this elegant 14th century palace.
Day 4 - Viviers & Tournon
This morning take advantage of a walking tour of Viviers. This delightful region, a small walled city situated right on the banks of the Rhone, boasts ancient homes and an unusual catherdral which dates back to the Roman rule. Navigate the warren of narrow streets and visit the heart of the Old Town.
Soak up the picturesque town of Tournon this afternoon. and perhaps join in on a cooking class in Scenic Culinaire en route.
Relax with a beverage on the terrace of the Castle of Tournon. Local guitarists will perform an acoustic set for your exclusive benefit. It’s a great soundtrack to an awe-inspiring backdrop.
Day 5 - Vienne & Lyon
Take a walking tour in Vienne and uncover the fascinating history of this quaint riverside town, once conquered by Julius Caesar.
This afternoon join an on board masterclass in French cuisine in Scenic Culinaire, or simply relax and view the beautiful Rhône River vistas as you cruise to Lyon.
Day 6 - Lyon
Awake today in Lyon, the gastronomic heart of France.
Walk Lyon’s hidden traboules, and visit the Notre Dame Basilica, which offers fabulous views across the city.
Alternatively, walk the cobblestone paths of yesteryear in the medieval hilltop town of Pérouges, or join a guided bike ride to Lyon’s Botanical Gardens and Zoo.
Day 7 - Mâcon & Chalon-sur-Saône
Whilst cruising this afternoon join your chef in Scenic Culinaire for a lesson in French cookery.
Travel to the village of Oingt in the ‘Golden Stone’ region of Beaujolais, and enjoy a tasting of the region’s wines.
Or, explore charming Cluny, built around the great Benedictine Abbey.
Day 8- Chalon-sur-Saône - Return Home
After breakfast, transfer to the airport return flight home.
